FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Royal Oak, Michigan (10:37am) September 15, 2009
For years we have known about Patrick Swayze's disease. We don't think anyone would think it would be so fast. He will be most beloved for 'Dirty Dancing' and the movie 'Ghost' with Demi Moore. But below we reveal what many didn't know about his life. First, I recall having this conversation with a client some time back about end of life coming near how does one cope with the realities of where their assets will go, who will watch them and will the government take them? In the Anna Nicole and Heath Leger case, they didn't have the chance to plan for this. Do you think Anna would have left doubts about who would control her estate? Would Heath have left the question of whether his daughter should get his entire estate? (if you recall his family became the technical beneficiary's since his will was poorly drafted and done prior to his daughter's birth; more about this later on what to do)
We asked Mr. Joseph J. Dadich (an Attorney and CPA) Celebrity-Insider, about the end-of-life process. He said "Mr. Swayze was married to his high-school sweetheart. When we meet with family's like this one of the main goals is to protect the wife from greedy people. From that I mean, any threat evil step-kids may sue after the Husband is gone, what if there are creditor's are the assets protected, was the wife named as primary beneficiary of his insurance policy's, ira's, retirement plans, etc."
He went on to further state "One key critical item is to get this all done before a loved one loses mental capacity. If not the family will have to file in probate court which can costs thousands of dollars and then have a court decide. Most responsible family's do not want the court to decide anything.
Here's a few quick simple tips:
1. Check all insurance policy's and make sure a spouse is named as primary.
2. Check all jointly held bank accounts and instead create a VIP Revocable Living Trust to legally protect them.
3. Create a Will to properly distribute your assets how you want them, not a court.
4. Create a 'Schedule of Distribution' to distribute any personal effects – like collectibles and furniture – to loved ones.
We asked attorney Joseph J. Dadich, Esq. - who created the '20 Minute Emergency Estate Planning Blueprint'tm – what steps can responsible family's take to prevent these disasters?
" This is the unfortunate part about not seeing an attorney who specializes in protecting family's hard-earned assets. And even in Anna's case she had an attorney. Who didn't know a lick of estate planning nor was there any updates provided. This is a ripe opportunity for family's to get the system that will best help them solve these problems. It can be fast, easy and simple. I do not think of this as planning for death, but rather life planning."
